NPP Primaries: Alan, Ken Agyapong supporters in Ashanti Region declare support for Bawumia

Just a week after some executives in the Central Region's Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong's home district and one of the NPP's flagbearer candidates, publicly endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, some supporters in the Ashanti Region have done the same.

On Sunday, October 15, 2023, followers of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and Kennedy Agyapong switched sides and vowed to stand for Dr. Bawumia during a press conference.

They were shown chanting the Vice President's praise and yelling "It's Possible" in a viral video under the direction of Mr. Dawuda Afriyie, the First Vice Chairman of the Offinso North Constituency.

Adul Aziz Ismail, also known as Kennedy Ba, and the head of the Kwaman Methodist polling place in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency spoke to the media and emphasized the necessity for Dr. Bawumia to be a candidate who could win.

"We're seeking for a flagbearer who can win the 2024 elections. Several of our MPs and Executives have faced harsh criticism for their selection of favoured candidates. The Vice President was chosen as the best candidate by the Majority Leader, who has been a member of parliament for a number of years.

"Our family has agreed with our father Kan Dapaah's opinion that Bawumia is the appropriate choice. We have decided to back the Vice President as a result, he revealed.

Mr. Adul Aziz Ismail described Dr. Bawumia as the right candidate to be the NPP's flagbearer in 2024, stressing that the choice is made without regard for inducement or personal advantage, but for the good of the NPP as a whole.

Mr. Dawuda Afriyie, a staunch Alan Kyeremanten supporter in the Ashanti Region, lamented the resigning NPP member's behavior and conveyed his dissatisfaction.

"After Alan's decision to resign from the NPP, it is clear that I am not a political child who needs to be told which path to take." I voted for Busia in 1969 and have continued to vote to this day. I have supporters, and we have decided to back Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We have supporters in each of the 15 constituencies allotted to me, and I can guarantee you that they will all vote for Bawumia now," he stated.
